Laem Ka Beach - Dragon Boating!
We have made our paddling base at Laem Ka, southern Phuket's only eastern facing beach. Apart from being idyllic and secluded the gentle slope of the beach means that we are not limited by tide as to when we can paddle. Around 150 metres wide and fringed by boulders it is blessed with cool breezes and shaded from midday onwards. Although it doesn't offer us much exposure as a club it does give us an almost private beach in the afternoons (once the speedboats have all landed their customers!). Different to many of the Tourist beaches around the visitors are mainly Thai and there are just a few beach vendors selling soft drinks and flip flops with no hassle from the usual hawkers. Come join us for a paddle, a BBQ as the sun goes down or just a relaxing afternoon watching us go through our paces!
Ao Yon Beach - Sail in Asia Dragonboating Center!
With the advantage of having two dragonboats to hand we are currently using the Sail in Asia Training Centre on Sundays to Race train. Far more fun to have two crews competing against each other. A perfectly situated and sheltered bay near to Cape Panwa at the South Eastern tip of Phuket. With storage for valuables, shower and toilet facilities we make an afternoon of it with a little training and 4 races per session. A great way to experience competitive paddling for the first time. As the club is based in the mainly in the south west, Rawai/Nai Harn/Chalong, we travel in convoy after meeeting up at Wine Connection Car Park on Chao Far East, Chalong. The White Hart - Drinking!
Just around the corner from Laem Ka is our adopted bar, The White Hart. Here we meet up after paddling for a well earned, ice cold beverage or three! We do get club discounts and you are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome from the staff and ourselves. We also hold our monthly quiz night here as it is large enough to host 50 plus people...also perfect for club birthday celebrations where bands and our tame Radio DJ 'The Doris' from 91.5fm can be accomodated to make our parties go with a swing!
